Google is introducing AI overviews to India, Brazil, Japan, the UK, Indonesia, and Mexico.

After introducing AI overviews in the United States, Google is spreading the AI-powered search summaries to six additional countries: India, Brazil, Japan, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and Mexico. These markets will also receive local language support for AI overviews.

The search engine giant is also changing how it shows source material connections. It adds a view to the upper right-hand side that displays site icons above the AI overview on both desktop and mobile. Users can tap on the icons to access links cited in an AI summary and learn more about the topic.

Additionally, the company is testing a method for displaying relevant links within the text of AI overviews. Google stated that it seeks to increase traffic to external websites.

“With AI Overviews, we’ve noticed that individuals are accessing a wider range of websites for help with more sophisticated questions. And when visitors click from search result pages with AI overviews, the quality of the clicks is higher for websites, which means users are more likely to spend more time on the sites they visit,” the business stated in a blog post.

India Focus:

With this update, Google has included certain India-specific capabilities in its AI overviews. The company previously tested a toggle that allowed users to switch between Hindi and English results without leaving the website. This capability will also be included in AI overviews.

The company will also allow customers in India to hear responses created by using the “Listen” button. The company stated that Indian users listen to AI overview responses more frequently than those in other countries.

During our early testing, we discovered that some Hindi inquiries did not work when we adjusted phrase structure or terms. We inquired more about Google’s technique for addressing Hindi-language questions. We’ll update the story if we hear anything back.
